Dooars -Valley the Gateway to Eastern Himalayas

The narrow stretch of land lying between the Sikkim-Darjeeling Himalayas and Gangetic Plains of North Bengal, bordered by Bhutan, Assam & Bangladesh, is known as DUARS /DOOARS. Turbulent rivers, the vast stretches of forest cover, the undulating span of Tea Estates and the panoramic grandeur of the Himalayas are only a few jewels that made the British ground their roots deep into the heart of this land. The National Parks like Gorumara and Jaldapara can well be any wildlife lover’s heaven, one can leisure out by the sides of the rivers or amid the Tea Gardens. The adventure-lovers may prefer to trek to Rupang Valley or Rachela. Apart from these, there are very old temples like Bodaganj, Jalpeshwar and Baneswar. Persons seeking to smell history can take a hike to the Buxa Fort or they can peep into the heritage Palace of Cooch Behar. Samsing or Jhalang-Bindu-Paren can give them feeling of the mountains or they even can go straight to access the Himalayas with barely a couple of hours drive! Duars, the land of ‘Tea, Timber & Tourism’, is so rich but is still mostly unexplored even today.
